On resetting a neglected partnership, and how to identify the partners you need
Happy Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to create partnerships you never thought possible. You can also get these editions on YouTube.
3 IDEAS FROM ME
I.
A partnership can be reset at any time. It may have been neglected or circumstances may have changed. Whatever the reason, whomever is around the table, the besting starting point for a reset is to resurface the intention that brought people and organisations together in the first place. It’s a risk to assume everyone will remember that intention.
II.
The language used to start the process of resetting a partnership is important. Here’s the template I use: “Hi [Name], I have been thinking about how we can add more value to [partner organisation name] through our current partnership. Can we connect next week to work through our ideas?’
III.
Use the act of resetting a partnership to confirm if the assumptions used to form the alliance in the first place still hold true. Asking this question confirms intention and also shows your interest in your partners success.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
Think about partners as the help you need to achieve important goals for your organisation. Using this lens, you can identify what your team is really good at and with brutal honesty identify where your team falls short in terms of capability. So here’s this week’s question for you:
Where does your team fall short and what people or organisations can you identify that could help as partners?
