The one day partnership, being ready and bridging communications gaps
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BE IN MOTION
Welcome to Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to consider this week to create partnerships you never thought possible.
3 IDEAS FROM ME
I.
In 2019, Burger King in Argentina and other countries removed the Whopper from its menu for one day to support McDonald's Big Mac campaign, where $2 from every Big Mac sold was being donated to childhood cancer charties.
Even competitors can partner when the greater good is the common goal.
II.
Two types of companies enter partnerships: Companies ready to grow and companies hoping to grow. At first glance, they look the same. Both talk about alignment, goals, and shared success. But there’s a difference. It’s this.
III.
You're collaborating with international colleagues. How do you bridge the gap in communication styles? I was asked this question from the crowd this week. Here’s my answer:
Bridging communication gaps with international colleagues starts with curiosity and respect. Here is the 4 step approach I use:
Understand cultural nuances: Learn if they prefer direct or indirect communication, formal or casual tones.
Set clear expectations: Be upfront about goals, timelines, and feedback processes.
Use local examples: Share relatable stories of successful local partnerships to illustrate complex ideas.
Encourage open dialogue: Create space for questions and clarity.
Using relatable examples brings reality to abstract goals, it also helps build trust because it shows you're taking the time to understand your colleagues' context.
Try it and let me know how you get on.
