On signalling value, asking for clarity and sharing your partnership motives

Welcome to Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to consider this week to create partnerships you never thought possible, plus additional insight from the Partnership+ podcast.

3 IDEAS FROM ME

I.

It’s a mistake to avoid sharing your reasons for wanting to enter into partnership with another business. There are two upsides to declaring your motives early. First, it could open more opportunities, more quickly than you first thought. Second, it reduces the risk of a new partner misinterpreting your intent and offering to engage on a smaller scale, or worse still, moving slowly or disengaging all together. Open a transparent exchange from the start to arrive to a quick Go / No-Go decision. Your time (and theirs) is valuable.

II.

One of the best ways to demonstrate you value a business partnership is to always return your partners call within 24 hours.

III.

Request a clear explanation for the intent behind any clause in a partnership agreement that you don’t understand. You owe it to yourself and your team to understand how a partnership agreement could impact your organisation.

1 QUESTION FOR YOU

How likely are you to consider a pitch for partnership from a company or brand that you’ve never heard of?

HINT: If the answer is, ‘It depends?’, go one step further and answer, what does it depend on?
