The John F Kennedy partnership rule, valuable questions and getting projects back on track
In partnership with FIVERR
Welcome to Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to consider this week to create partnerships you never thought possible!
3 IDEAS FROM ME
I.
John F Kennedy said, ‘Partnership is not a posture but a process, a continuous process that grows stronger each year we devote ourselves to common tasks’. Think of every new business partnership as if it were to last a decade.
II.
The answer to one question reveals volumes about the cultural compatibility of a future business partner. So, to assess cultural compatibility before entering a partnership, ask: What three reasons could cause this partnership to fail?
III.
How can you motivate your team members to succeed when they’re struggling to meet partnership project deadlines? I was this asked this question from the crowd this week. Here’s my answer:
Meeting partnership project timelines are a function a mission clarity, time and capability. In my experience, a mixture of time and capability are the root causes of the majority of missed deadlines. Let me explain.
Bring the partnership project team together and ask them to play back the mission to you. When this is clear, dive deep into time (in other words how much available time they have to dedicate to the project). This usually reveals too many competing priorities which can be solved with reprioritisation. Then focus on whether the team has the skills and experience to deliver.
Following this process (mission clarity > time > capability) helps to address the most controllable factors first to get the team back on track.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU
If you were to partner with a competitor to solve an industry problem, who would it be?
