On understanding what really matters, rapidly adjusting to evolving market conditions and why the first win is critical

Welcome to Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to consider this week to create partnerships you never thought possible, plus additional insight from the Partnership+ podcast.
3 IDEAS FROM ME
I.
The task of understanding incentives and behaviours of people involved in partnerships is where it gets interesting. Human behaviour is complex. Needs and desires can change rapidly and often without much notice. Here’s how you understand (and keep understanding) the incentives driving the people on the other side of the table in a partnership.
Ask each decision maker two questions:
How will our partnership help you in your role?
How could this partnership be a game changer for your organisation?
II.
The first win in a partnership is critical. Achieving the first win helps you understand your partner better and leverage the trust and momentum to deliver the benefits of the partnership. This success also often reveals new opportunities within the partnership to create even more value.

III.
How can you rapidly adjust to evolving market conditions in Partnerships? I was this asked this question from the crowd this week. Here’s my answer:
"What nuances are most people are missing about this trend?" I ask this of industry insiders involved in partnerships when it comes to trends and staying informed.
And it's a useful question for three reasons.
First, a headline trend is built on a collection of events, observations and facts, all of which have their own nuance. Grasping these nuances helps uncover the core of trends, increases understanding and decision-making quality. Second, people are generally happy to share their expertise and perspectives. Third, this question demonstrates my curiosity and genuine fear of missing important perspectives.
Here's the bottom line: Engaging in conversations about trends deepens relationships.
1 QUESTION FOR YOU

FROM OUR PARTNER
Life-giving donations for life-changing outcomes. That’s Lifeblood’s purpose and while their life-giving role started 90 years ago with blood donations, today they help more people in more ways than ever before.
Lifeblood is like a well-oiled machine and donors, like you, are their lifeblood. I have donated blood and plasma over 160 times and know the impact these donations have for people in the fight of their life. Right now, Lifeblood’s reserves of most blood types have dropped to critical levels so as a Wednesday Partnership reader, I invite you to donate again or if you’re new to donating, take the eligibility quiz!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
