Reputation roulette, avoiding miscommunication and the Cochlear effect

In partnership with FIVERR

Welcome to Partnership Wednesday! Here are 3 ideas from me and 1 question for you to consider this week to create partnerships you never thought possible!

3 IDEAS FROM ME

I.

Every time someone vouches for your business as a potential partner, they’re staking their reputation and influence on that decision. It's your responsibility to ensure that their trust is rewarded by delivering tangible value to the partnership. By consistently adding value, you not only justify their faith in you but also strengthen the foundation for an enduring, mutually beneficial relationship.

II.

Failed partnerships are not a reason to avoid pursuing future collaborations. They are the basis for learning. Each setback provides insights that can refine your approach, making your next partnership stronger and more resilient.

III.

How will you rebuild trust and salvage progress when your partnership is at risk due to miscommunication? I was this asked this question from the crowd this week. Here’s my answer:

Miscommunication often stems from two main issues: a lack of shared language and a reliance on text-based communication.

When partners don't invest time in understanding how the other communicates or define important terms (like 'success' or 'issue') the miscommunication surface area increases. This first issue compounds in relationships where the dominant form of communication is written text. Emails and chat have a tendency to suck intention out of messages making it difficult to understand the true meaning of what the sender is trying to say.

Invest time in regularly meeting in person (or via video) with the intention to understand and build pathways to achieve partnership milestones of which you and the team can be proud.

1 QUESTION FOR YOU

What could you do today to increase the transparency between you and one of your partners?
