3 IDEAS FROM ME
I.
Reframe your competitors through a lens of potential partners. Understand their culture and how they organise to capture an opportunity and there is a good chance that your next partner has been hiding in plain sight.
II.
The first win in a new partnership should bring both relief — confirming the right choice in partner — and anticipation for future progress. Secure it swiftly.
III.
You're coordinating with partners across different time zones. How can you ensure seamless communication? I was asked this question from the crowd this week. Here’s my answer:
Make the world work to the partnership's advantage.
When intent and the partnership operating and communication model is clear, one team can progress work while the other sleeps. And when done well, the handoff and pickup from one team to another can lead to dramatic productivity gains.
Think of the ground teams that support the International Space Station. The mission intent and the way each of those teams operate and communicate is seamless, as is their approach to debriefing to ensure continuous improvement.
We have the tools to enable seamless communication.
Tools are rarely the issue.
Be relentless in (re)communicating intent and optimising how to operate and communicate. This is where teams win and others lose.
